Sometime next week, a new version of Jav-It is planned which will include the previously early access only features: Subtitle Image Tagging and Bulk Rename File Generation. For more information on these features, please see my previous blog post!

In addition, I am pleased to announce that the Machine Subtitle Translation feature is also being prepared to go live! Barring any unforeseen difficulties, this exclusive Patreon feature should also drop within the next week or so. With this feature, Jav-It will now be able to automatically translate SRT subtitles from one language to another. Supported languages are: Bulgarian, Chinese, Czech, Danish, Dutch, English, Estonian, Finnish, French, German, Greek, Hungarian, Italian, Japanese, Latvian, Lithuanian, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Russian, Slovak, Slovenian, Spanish, and Swedish.

While I’m sure some translation programs probably already exist, most rely on using developer API calls to perform language translations. This is usually undesirable as translation requests are limited in an attempt to get users to pay hefty “per-character” translation fees or subscriptions. Jav-It completely sidesteps this problem, by making translation requests exactly like a user with a web browser would. By simulating this behavior, most limitations are virtually eliminated! In addition, rather than requesting raw subtitle information to be translated, Jav-It extracts only the subtitle text for translation and then re-inserts them back into your subtitle timecodes. This eliminates virtually all subtitle errors introduced by machine translators misinterpreting and incorrectly translating subtitle control data. Of course, since this method for performing machine translation is not officially supported by the original developers, it is libel to break with updates or changes. However, I am hopeful that due to the nature of this solution, fixes can be found easily as the only real solution to blocking it is to stop offering free translations to web users.
