Automatic Dowloading: English Subtitles?
Recently I stumbled upon some unnamed websites which started selling English subtitles for videos. Specifically, subtitles that were created by fans and shared for free for everyone to enjoy. What surprised me further was how much they were trying to charge for these subtitles (in some cases upwards of $9+ each)!
So I decided to investigate the situation and see if there was anything I could do to help (at least in my small part anyway). While it might take quite a bit of time and effort to figure out, I decided that I could probably update Jav-It to also include the automatic downloading of English subtitles (when one is available). How and where to scrape these files would pose a significant challenge, but I think I have a few ideas. Even if the solution is messy, I think anything would be better than having people unintentionally pay for subtitles that are free on the internet.
Although the number of people who have used my software is small, I’m extremely happy to learn that they have found the tool to be an invaluable resource. Spending time to work on something you like is one thing, but having others appreciate it is totally different! (^_^); If this feature is something people would value, I’ll try to release an upgrade/plug-in module and see how it goes.

Thanks for the kind message. I am happy to report that this feature is progressing and is almost completed. However, this is with me spending most of my free time working on Jav-It. It is indeed a lot of work (especially with real-life obligations) so naturally I need to strike a good work/life balance, which is appropriate to the demand. Since you were the only one to reply to this feature, I might as well just give you a personal preview of what to expect:
As you may already know, searching for subtitles isn’t straight forward. They are largely created by random people, scattered across the internet on various forums, blogs, and web-postings (in many cases stuck behind paywalls, logins, links, and ads unique to that site). So in order to deal with this, I plan to release an add-on module which will include subtitle specific definitions (for identifying, matching, and obtaining subtitles). Like a virus scanner, you will need the latest definitions in order for Jav-It to be aware of the latest available subtitles. The first subtitle definition module will be released on itch.io, with subsequent updates added to Patreon as they come out. Hopefully this will allow me to strike a better balance between people who are satisfied with existing functionality and those who wish to see me spend ongoing time and support to expand Jav-It further!
This sounds great man. I really appreciate you working hard on this, and yes I also understand how hard it is to maintain a work/life balance. Take your time man, I am eagerly waiting for the release.

Thanks for the kind words! Although you are the only one who replied to me so far, I did decide to start looking into this hoping others would feel the same way. I think there are roughly a ball park of about 1000+ English subtitles floating around the web that I'm aware of, but because they are spread out and buried all over the place, it is very difficult for people to find them or save them before they disappear.
If any Jav-It users have English subtitles they would like to contribute to this project, let me know the content ID code (to see if it is not already covered) and I can find a way to have you send it to me so we can include them in the search database. If people pitch in what we have, we can pretty much free all subtitles on the internet (especially those paid for, or stuck behind a commision/paywall).
Just another follow up, since you find the application useful (^_^);
I have a nagging feeling that a large amount of people would also find this tool quite useful, if only they knew such a tool existed. If people are regulars on JAV forums or JAV subreddits and want to post their own reviews about Jav-It, I'd be happy to provide a prize key they could use as a give-away for Jav-It. While it really is only a token gesture, It would make the process more fun and exciting for people. Especially if they never knew such a tool existed before.
